Politics in Samar

The current state of Politics in Samar is underdeveloped.  This is mainly because Samar is a dependent economy.  The rise of political dynasty is attributed to the lack of alternative political leaders having modern outlook towards development of the economy.  The political vacuum created by the demise and departure of several traditional political leaders and traditional families has led to its current predicament.  The old political system was supplanted by a new kind of political network that was based on a eschewed economic opportunism created by new economic leadership in Samar.  Having economic power, it has ultimately extended to possessing political power.  After more than eight years, the economy remains stagnant and infrastructure remains undeveloped.   Using its economic advantage, the rest of the growing political leadership was marginalized. Even the Leftist movement, being fractionalized, has been relegated as mere observers in the political process, and has been absorbed by economic opportunism offered by the  current political leadership.

New political leaders from the younger generation should start its political initiatives by creating a new political movement for Samar.  The party list "An Waray" was not able to make its mark in developing Waray leaders. It forgot its historic role in Congress, and became just another organization.  The drive for modernization is the yearning of most Samarenos.  They strive where they can.  So the young and talented voted with their feet and left to other progessive regions and abroad.

Samar is in the crossroad of making a new history of its own.  By breaking traditional barriers in economic and political development, it should embark on a road of "modernization" for the future of the younger generation is at stake.

Our Political Program as Congresman will be as follows:

1.  Support and Initiate leadership programs in the political and governmental sphere;

2.  Support and Initiate bills for increasing political and administrative autonomy based on principles of the Philippine Constitution and the Local Government Code;

3.  Support and develop programs toward creation of a "Federal" form of government in the future.
